POSITION: Technology Technician III - Infrastructure Specialist

SALARY GRADE: EC-15 

LOCATION: Edenton Chowan Schools Technology Department 

SALARY: $4,321.88 - $5,985.83 per month 

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month Position 

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology 

 

NATURE OF WORK: An individual in this position supports and maintains both administrative and instructional computers, software, and networks.  This work includes repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. The employee is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining computer networks, as well as hardware, software, and other related communication systems. The employee is also responsible for handling escalated tickets across the district.  Supports the Director of Technology in the design, configuration, and installation of local area networks and file servers.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/SKILLS:

  • Works with the technology director in the development and implementation of all technical aspects of the local technology plan.  
  • Handles escalated tickets from other Technicians
  • Supervises and/or installs hardware, software, and related peripherals.
  • Creates and/or maintains documentation regarding network configurations, operating procedures, and service records.
  • Monitors and manages the network, ensuring performance and security.   
  • Maintains infrastructure systems by patching and upgrading firmware
  • Participates in long and short-term technology planning under the direction of the Director of Technology.
  • Installs/configures and maintains VOIP, Copier, and video surveillance systems.
  • Attends classes, seminars, conferences, and reviews professional literature to enhance knowledge of trends and developments related to network systems. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Technology 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of computers, infrastructure equipment, and network equipment.
  • Experience working with and creating technology support processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of network/systems controls, patching, and migration of vulnerabilities. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an IT-related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate degree in computer science, or a related technical field from an appropriately accredited institution, and one year of networking-related experience, or three to five years or equivalent experience.
  • CCNA or Network+ Certification obtained or willingness to obtain is preferred.
